What is a digital asset management service?
A digital asset management service enables you to manage, implement, control and distribute digital assets quickly and easily anywhere there is Web access. Digital assets include logos, packaging, advertising and marketing design files. In the case of AppArt’s Digital Asset Management service, our customers use it to manage, locate and retrieve specific digital files for online and print use and re-use.

What is a digital asset?
A digital asset is the digital version of your brand assets and includes any media file such as a digital photograph, illustration, graphic, logo, video or sound file. EPS, PSD, TIF, BMP, PDF, Quark, Illustrator, InDesign, Freehand, and Microsoft Office files such as Word, Excel or PowerPoint.

What is the difference between brand asset management, digital asset management and media asset management?
Brand asset management and media asset management are other terms for digital asset management.

Why do I need a digital asset management service?
Simply put, to gain control over your important brand assets by creating a central repository to house them. Our Digital Asset Management service provides more consistency to your corporate communications and marketing efforts and streamlines the process by ensuring that correct versions and up-to-date files are used and are available when needed. You’ll also save time spent fielding file requests and looking for files, eliminate file name confusion and information bottlenecks, have a more productive staff that spends less time on administration, and save shipping and duplication costs of sending assets out on CD.

What is the difference between a service and software?
With a service (which is what AppArt offers), all you need is a Web browser to access your files, and you and your internal team and external partners can do so anytime and from anywhere. There’s no software or hardware to buy, maintain or troubleshoot.

Why can't I build my own conventional database?
You save time, money and hassles outsourcing to AppArt. Because digital assets come in a wide range of different file formats and sizes, you’d have to spend time resizing, renaming and reformatting. We do all that for you. Additionally, mainstream database programs are not geared to efficiently house such assets. But beyond that, why spend time and money on building, maintaining and troubleshooting a system when you could be spending that time building your business? Creating highly functional and user-friendly digital asset management systems is our core competency, and it’s more cost-effective to use our service than it would be for you to hire staff to create and maintain a database in-house.

What should I look for in a digital asset management service?
Your brand asset management service should be secure, scalable to grow with your needs, and easy to use, and it should come with a high level of customer support. A good brand asset management system is more than an archive—it is constantly being shared, added to, and revised. We believe that you shouldn’t have to purchase specialized software to get a dynamic solution. With AppArt, you don’t have to.

What do I need in order to use AppArt’s asset management system?
All you need is a web browser and an Internet connection.

How are assets added or removed from the system?
Files can be sent to AppArt using our simple file upload system, and we will organize, rename, preview, and post the files. Or, if files are ready for posting, they can be added directly to the site by the customer using our file upload module and the site’s administration section, which allow customers to manage assets online.

Can the system be password protected?
Yes, we can create various levels of access, depending on the user. We can even create a system where you manage user permissions online, granting and removing access as needed.
